Oh you guys are back!?! Welcome! I am going to talk about Democracy Developing In the U.S! First of all, Democracy in Ancient Greece is very different from how it is now. Here in the U.S we have representatives. These are people that are chosen to speak for others. Now, here in the U.S we still choose by the majority of votes, but there are different political parties! You might be wondering what a political party is. A political party is a group of people who share the same ideas about how power should be used in a country or association. Here in America there are many parties, for example, Independent Party, Green Party, Constitution Party and so on. As well as the two biggest parties known as Republican and Democratic. So, How Did Democracy Develop In the U.S? After democracy developed in Athens, it became a big hit around the world! It came to the Mediterranean. Then, once the Roman Kingdom used this method, democracy became known around the world. The Roman Empire got hold of this around the time period of 100-105 B.c. Later on, about a thousand years or so democracy was used mostly in European cities. For example, Italy and Florence etc. From then on, eventually after America was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, America had established a new president through democracy in the year 1789. This president's name was George Washington. Sounds familiar doesn't it? |
